Dua Lipa relinquishes role as musical guest on 'Saturday Night Live' in amusing promo, giving way to Chloe Fineman.
In an exclusive preview for the upcoming SNL episode, Fineman demonstrates a fresh impression she's been rehearsing to Grammy winner Lipa. Known for her spot-on impersonations, Fineman then dances incongruously as she performs her altered version of Lipa's 2020 hit "Levitating." However, the lyrics are incorrect.
Lipa inquires about whom the impression is intended to mock, to which Fineman replies, "You!" Lipa then recommends that Fineman hone her dance moves for a more polished performance.
When Fineman displays her tap dancing skills, Lipa is even more disenchanted - adding to the absurdity.
Following Lipa's transformation of Fineman's appearance to include a dark red wig identical to her own, both women feel more self-assured. Despite Fineman's continuous errors with the lyrics, they're confident in her future performance.
"It's close enough. You're going to nail it!" Lipa exclaims to a nervous and puzzled Fineman. "What?" Fineman retorts.
"I'll just focus on my sketches, so how about you handle the performance?" Lipa proposes, giving the mic to Fineman while she exits the stage.
Lipa, who is hosting and performing as the musical guest for this episode of SNL, making it her first time hosting since appearing in 2018 and 2020 as a musical guest. Her new album, "Radical Optimism," will be released on Friday.
"Saturday Night Live" premieres on NBC at 11:30 p.m. EDT/8:30 p.m. PDT.
