Will Smith experiences a rebirth as "Bad Boy."

Following the infamous Chris Rock slapping incident at the Oscars in 2022, actor Will Smith experiences a rebirth. While at the European premiere of "Bad Boys: Ride or Die", he relates his metamorphosis to that of a butterfly. "Our remarkable capacity to transform, bounce back, and metamorphose is the most remarkable gift humans possess," he informed journalists. "To embody the life cycle of a caterpillar and decomposing, ceasing to exist, and reappearing as a butterfly," elaborated the star.

Will Smith smacked Chris Rock onstage 24 months ago in response to a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith, his wife, who had to shave her head due to hair loss. Following his apology, Will Smith received a decade-long ban from Academy events.

At the Berlin premiere, Will Smith relaxed and light-hearted. He explained how he had difficulties regaining his fitness and form for the action film - now taking half the time he used to with his decreased age and reduced donut intake. Joining Will Smith once more in this fourth installment of the "Bad Boys" series is his onscreen partner Martin Lawrence, a native of Frankfurt/Main. Together, they rekindle their roles as Miami cops Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett.

The original film in the franchise, which features Smith and Lawrence as the Miami police duo - Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett - released in 1995 ("Bad Boys - Tough Guys"). Two sequels followed in 2003 and 2020. In the upcoming film, "Ride or Die", the duo investigates a scandal of corruption, but gets entangled in a more sinister web, forcing them to flee. "Bad Boys: Ride or Die" is set to hit German cinemas on June 5.
