Westernhagen of Müller retracts upcoming performance.
Marius Müller-Westernhagen, a 75-year-old singer, left his fans in Stuttgart disappointed. He suddenly canceled his concert at Schleyerhalle, a sold-out event, citing health concerns. Although it was sad news, there didn't seem to be any major cause for concern.
The concert's postponement was announced on Westernhagen's official Instagram account: "Unfortunately, Marius Müller-Westernhagen's sold-out gig at Stuttgart's Schleyerhalle had to be canceled at the last minute due to health issues. There's no rescheduled date, so tickets can be returned to where they were purchased." The post sparked a flood of negative comments from disgruntled fans.
Complaints about the short notice and lack of an alternative date were voiced by many disheartened ticket holders. Some individuals questioned if they would be covered for expenses such as travel and accommodation, making their ire towards the decision evident. A few, however, expressed sympathy for the artist and wished him a speedy recovery.
Many fans were frustrated over the abrupt cancellation just 10 minutes before the show was set to start, stating: "Unfortunately canceled at very short notice... this should have happened earlier. Very, very annoying for us as huge fans. The cancellation at 7.55 pm!"
Despite the negativity, the post mentioned that the artist, his management, and the organizers were "very much" regretting the cancellation and hoped for understanding from the fans.
This incident occurred as Westernhagen was promoting his new compilation album, "Westernhagen 75 (75 Songs / 1974 - 2023)," released last year to celebrate his 75th birthday. The album features one song from each of his 28 albums, arranged chronologically and including a track from each release. The compilation spans from "Das erste Mal," his pop debut, to "Das eine Leben," his 2022 work, created under COVID restrictions.
The "75Live" tour, meant to showcase his career-spanning hits beyond the mainstream, began in May. This tour has not been impacted by the cancellation of the Stuttgart concert, as it's expected to continue as planned.
