Westernhagen-Müller Discusses Concert Cancellation

Marius Müller-Westernhagen unexpectedly cancels his performance in Stuttgart due to health issues, facing backlash from fans.

Marius Müller-Westernhagen was supposed to perform at Schleyerhalle in Stuttgart on Tuesday, but had to cancel at the last minute because of health concerns. His management team broke the news on Instagram. Unfortunately, there won't be a rescheduled date for this show. Given the short notice, fans expressed their frustration and disappointment online.

In response to a photo showing the singer with his band before a performance, Westernhagen tried to clarify the situation. "Unfortunately, my doctors took me out of the game yesterday to prevent any risk," he said. "It's part of professionalism to be under medical care while on tour these days." He added, "Shit happens." The musician spent the night in a Stuttgart hotel after receiving several infusions from a doctor backstage, not knowing "what was sent through my vein." But "after eleven hours of sleep, I feel like my old self again, and I'm positive I'll be back on stage in Berlin this Friday," he assured fans with tickets for upcoming shows on his "75 Live" tour.

"I'm really sorry for the cancellation yesterday," he wrote to fans. "I was so excited about it and I can't thank you enough for your understanding. I'll do my best to find a new date for you."

Following the last-minute cancellation, fans took to the comment section on Instagram to express their anger and disappointment. "Dear Mr. Westernhagen, who pays for my expenses? Fuel, hotel, parking. Canceling five minutes before the show and no alternative date is inexplicable. Many fans are furious and distraught. Think things through or stop organizing live concerts at your age." "Unfortunately, canceled at the very last minute... this should have happened earlier. Very, very annoying for us as big fans. The cancellation at 7:55 pm!" were two examples of fans venting their frustration.

Müller-Westernhagen released a new album in December 2022 to mark his 75th birthday. His latest album, titled "Westernhagen 75 (75 Songs / 1974-2023)," features one song from each year of his life. He began his "75Live" tour in May 2023.
