University Audience Boos Comedian Jerry Seinfeld

In the United States, Jerry Seinfeld, a well-known Jewish comedian, was met with disapproval by pro-Palestinian students at a graduation event at a prestigious educational institution. As reported by several online sources, a significant number of attendees at the event left the premises at Duke University in North Carolina, where hundreds of students were present. Some of the protesters waved Palestinian flags.
Seinfeld, who became widely known due to his hit sitcom, has traditionally been viewed as apolitical. However, following the outbreak of the Gaza conflict initiated by Hamas' attack on Israel, he spoke out in support of Israel on various occasions.
For instance, he traveled to Tel Aviv and met with relatives of the hostages abducted by the Islamic Palestinian group, Hamas, on October 7th. In response to why he made the trip, Seinfeld explained to "GQ" magazine, "Well, I'm Jewish." Together with his wife Jessica, the couple actively engages in efforts to combat anti-Semitism online. Receiving an honorary doctorate at the event, the 70-year-old Seinfeld drew applause from many present. In his speech, he did not address the events in Gaza.
Campus protests
