Uncommon Richard Mille timepiece might establish a new milestone in Christie's New York sale.

A unique Richard Mille wristwatch with a see-through sapphire case design and a skeletonized tourbillon made from sapphire is expected to be sold for up to four million dollars at Christie's Rockefeller Center on June 10. This watch is one of only ten editions created, and it will be auctioned during their "Important Watches" sale that showcases top-quality wristwatches representing the long history of watchmaking.

A press release from Christie's revealed their excitement about offering the Limited-Edition Richard Mille RM56-02 AO Tourbillon Sapphire, which represents groundbreaking innovations in materials and micro-engineering.

Additionally, another limited-edition Richard Mille wristwatch featuring a diamond-set skull will be auctioned for the first time, with expectations to fetch up to one million dollars.

Up for grabs is also a scarce stainless steel Rolex Daytona wristwatch with a "Paul Newman" dial and bracelet, claimed to have been worn by late Apollo 7 NASA astronaut Walter Cunningham in space. This watch is valued up to $450,000.

Cunningham, who passed away last year, was one of the first chosen to pilot the pioneering Apollo 7 mission in 1968, which later led to humans landing on the moon for the first time.

The Rolex Daytona watch was reportedly worn by late NASA astronaut Walter Cunningham in space.

An 18-carat gold automatic Patek Philippe, custom-made by Tiffany & Co. for 36th US President Lyndon B. Johnson while he was a senator, is also set to be sold for up to $45,000. Johnson gave this watch to Senator Robert Kerr, who then passed it to the current owner's grandfather - a pilot who had skillfully flown him through a rough storm.

Christie's Head of Sale in New York, Rebecca Ross, emphasized the historical significance of the watches chosen, calling them more than just beautiful timepieces. "The timepieces offered in this sale transcend mere beauty; they symbolize significant moments in history, from groundbreaking explorations to technological advancements that redefine possibilities," she added.

She also noted that collectors would have the chance to acquire not just watches, but also treasured pieces of horological innovation that continue to inspire today.

Several of the watches will be displayed in Hong Kong from May 24 to 26 before they are shipped back to New York for display from June 6 to 10, when the auction will take place.
