Tribute for Matthew Perry leaves spectators emotional.
Fans of "Friends" are still mourning the loss of Matthew Perry after his passing last year. During the BAFTA TV Awards, Perry was honorably remembered with a short video that left many emotional.
The BAFTA TV Awards paid tribute to the late actor during their In Memoriam segment. This was a heartfelt moment, as fans bid farewell to those who had passed away in the world of television. At the end of the segment, clips of Perry as Chandler Bing from "Friends" were shown on screen. Sadly, the beloved actor passed away in October 2023.

Outrage over Perry's absence at the BAFTA Film Awards
However, some fans were outraged when Perry was not mentioned at the BAFTA Film Awards in February 2024. He had made a name for himself not only through the role of Chandler Bing in "Friends", but also through his appearance in movies like "No Half Measures" with Bruce Willis and "17 Again" with Zac Efron.
The oversight was quickly criticized. One user commented, "It's nice to see Matthew Perry included in the In Memoriam section after he wasn't in the movie edition." The oversight had clearly upset many viewers.
Eventually, the organizers of BAFTA addressed the issue. They decided to honor Perry at the TV Awards.
Perry was found dead in California last October. The cause of death was ruled as "acute effects of ketamine" which ultimately led to drowning. He was also diagnosed with coronary heart disease, and had traces of buprenorphine, a powerful painkiller, in his blood.
