The small flea manages to succeed.

The "The Masked Singer" finale of this year is a thrilling three-way battle of off-key tunes. Thankfully, Michael Schulte portrays good musical taste during the chaos. In the end, a celebrated comedian lifts the winner's trophy high in the air.

After weeks filled with extravagant parties showcasing hidden talents from TV personalities like Huo Egon Balder, Uschi Glas, Annett Luisan, and Nadja Benaissa, we're down to the wire in the grand finale of "The Masked Singer." Joining host Mathias Opdenhövel, panelists Palina Rojinski and Rick Kavanian, and special guest Chris Tall want to unveil the identities behind the last three masks.

The anticipation was high before the show, with rumors of the Lochis wearing colorful flip-flops, Prinzen singer Sebastian Krumbiegel in a crocodile costume, and comedian Mirja Boes clad in a flea mask. The audience eagerly waited for the reveal.

"Relax, we can do this together!"

The tension was immense before the first performance, but Opdenhövel quickly intervened, inviting the first act onto the stage: the funny flip flops! They sang Olly Murs' deep chart pop song "My Heart Skips A Beat" with passion. Unfortunately, the crocodile couldn't match their energy. Its off-key karaoke version of the Guns N' Roses hit "November Rain" wasn't well-received. However, the audience cheered for every sound, no matter how out of tune it was.

Sebastian Krumbiegel has to take off his croc mask early in the final.

Next, the flea performed "Thank You For The Music," and the first unmasking of the evening was confirmed. Chris Tall had a hunch: "My tip for the final? To the flip, to the flop, to the flea!" The comedian was right as it turned out to be Sebastian Krumbiegel, the Prinzen singer. After the two energetic duets with the finalists ("Mr. Brightside", "There's No Business Like Show Business"), the costume with the purple princely cape and hooked nose came off to reveal Michael Schulte, the singer-songwriter.

Lochis and Mirja Boes take home the top prizes

The excitement was palpable as the flip flops and the flea prepared for their final performances ("Nothing Compares To You", "Everlasting Love"). The panel and the studio audience cheered them on, wondering who would win the coveted title and trophy.

In the end, the flip flops lost. The versatile and funny siblings, Heiko and Roman Lochis, were unmasked. The former had lost a lot of weight throughout the competition, so it's debatable who suffered the most under their colorful rubber sandals. Lastly, the flea emerged. To everyone's delight, it was the talented comedy expert, Mirja Boes. "I didn't even know what sounds I had inside me!" says the amateur singer. The entire crew applauded in excitement as Mirja Boes was crowned "The Masked Singer Champ 2024."
