The Netherlands stunned following Eurovision Song Contest disqualification

The ESC has ended with a disappointing outcome for the Netherlands, as Joost Klein has been disqualified from the final in Malmö. The Dutch public is feeling dismayed as they are calling the decision "drastic."

The Netherlands is upset about Joost Klein's exclusion from the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC). The Dutch public broadcasting service (NPO) conveyed their dissatisfaction, labeling the disqualification as "very extreme." This news has left millions of Song Contest fans in the Netherlands and other parts of Europe uneasy. A thorough investigation will be conducted with all concerned parties involved.

The Netherlands' participating television station AVROTROS deemed the disqualification "exaggerated." The broadcaster was "shocked by the decision." AVROTROS plans to discuss the specifics of the exclusion at a later time. Dutch TV commentator Cornald Maas emphasized that the event in question had no connection whatsoever to Israel or the Israeli delegation. "This incident is hardly worth mentioning," he stated. For Joost Klein and his team, the expulsion was "heartbreaking."

Joost Klein's disqualification was announced by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) at noon. The cause of the exclusion was due to an ongoing police inquiry into an event following his semi-final performance on Thursday night. "The Swedish police have been investigating a complaint made by a female member of the production team following an incident after his semi-final performance on Thursday evening." Until the legal process runs its course, "it would not be appropriate for him to continue participating in the competition," the EBU stated.

This disqualification elicited a range of reactions on social media in the Netherlands, sparking far-fetched suggestions like having Dutch TV air black or replay Joost Klein's performance continuously.

One Twitter user proposed having Dutch TV switch to black or air Joost Klein's performance in a loop throughout the event.

Another individual expressed empathy for the singer, saying, "Harassing a woman cannot be a trivial matter, especially when the police are involved. Instead of judging and condemning, we should now offer Joost Klein a hug. This must be a tough time for him. I can only imagine his pain."

So far, the singer himself, who was one of this year's favorites, hasn't commented on his disqualification.
