Sylvester Stallone, known for his love of watches, calls his favorite watch "the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen." This passion for timepieces led him to start collecting. Now, he's auctioning off 11 watches from his personal collection at Sotheby's in New York on June 5th.

Highlights include the rare Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime, which sets the bar for complicated wristwatches, with an estimated value of $5 million. There's also a limited edition model that Stallone wore in several films.

Patek Philippe's Grandmaster Chime is considered a collector's dream, as only seven of these were made. It boasts 20 complications—these are functions beyond telling time—such as five chiming mechanisms and a date repeater that audibly announces the date and time. Sotheby's has even nicknamed it the "holy grail." With an impressive 100,000 hours spent on designing, producing, and assembling these intricate mechanisms, it's a valuable and rare find.

Stallone had to jump through hoops to get his hands on the Grandmaster Chime: he had to write letters to the board and appeal to "certain powers that be." The outcome? He became the proud owner of this stunning piece of communication art. He'll also part with some other additional memorabilia—a personalized presentation box, an iPad, and a pair of AirPods, each housed in a Patek Philippe case.

The Grandmaster Chime is the most complicated ever Patek Philippe watch.

Another notable watch that Sly's putting up for auction is a Patek Philippe Nautilus, created in stainless steel. This one sports an olive-green dial surrounded by 32 Wesselton baguette diamonds. It's expected to fetch up to $400,000.

He's not just auctioning off watches; several noted watchmakers are included in the sale as well, like a Rolex model that commemorates the 60th anniversary of an iconic design, valued at $50,000. Or the Audemars Piguet with a striking blue face and pink gold case, potentially selling for $200,000.

Some of Stallone's favorite watches from Panerai are also part of the auction. He's been a fan of the brand since 1996's "Daylight," even donning their gear on-screen, and it shows in the watches he's got in this collection. Special mention goes to an exclusive model crafted specifically for him, with an engraving marking his connection to the brand. It's projected to sell for up to $60,000. So, get ready for a watch lover's bonanza!
