Sophie Turner describes her separation from Joe Jonas as the most difficult period in her life.

In an interview with British Vogue, the "Game of Thrones" actress opened up about her split last year with singer Joe Jonas after four years of marriage. They have two young daughters together.

After their breakup, Turner faced some unfavorable media coverage, which portrayed her as a party girl and Jonas as the more responsible parent.

"I mean, those were the worst few days of my life," she shared with British Vogue. "I was on set, contracted to be there for another two weeks, and couldn't leave. My kids were in the States, and I couldn't get to them because I had to finish Joan. And all these articles started coming out."

"It hurt because I really do completely torture myself over every move I make as a mother - mom guilt is so real!" she added. "I just kept telling myself, 'None of this is true. You are a good mom and you've never been a partier.'"

Even though she and Jonas jointly announced their breakup, the negative coverage persisted when photos from the wrap party for her series "Joan" made their way online.

"I mean, it's incredible the amount of people who will just make up stuff and put it out there based on a picture," Turner said. "A picture might tell a thousand words, but it's not my story. It felt like I was watching a movie of my life that I hadn't written, hadn't produced, or starred in. It was shocking. I'm still in shock."

The cast and crew of "Joan" became Turner's emotional support system, like a family to her. She feels better since then, now settled back in her native UK with her children.

"My circumstances have improved enough that I no longer take medication for depression," she told the publication. "There's something about a community and a support system that I've never realized is so important until now. And I think the reason I was on medication for so long is because I didn't have those people with me. Now that I'm back home, I'm actually the happiest I've been in a really long time. I'm starting over again, rediscovering what I like to do, who I like to be with."
