Shania Twain details her path to forgiving her ex-husband's infidelity: "It's his fault"

Recently, a famous singer appeared on the "Great Company with Jamie Laing" podcast. During the episode, she discussed the infidelity that led to her divorce from Robert "Mutt" Lange in 2010, after he had an affair with her friend, Marie-Anne Thiébaud.

Regarding her feelings towards her ex-husband, she expressed that it's difficult to hate or refuse to forgive someone who is a human being deserving of empathy and understanding. She stated, "Do I hate my ex-husband for making a mistake? No. It's his mistake, not mine."

Moreover, she mentioned the sadness she feels for her ex-husband's situation, as he must live with the consequences of his error. She emphasized that this sadness is not her burden.

Twain and Lange got married in 1993 and were together for 15 years. In 2008, they announced their decision to split, and finalized the divorce in 2010.

Forgiveness for Twain is similar to letting go, but forgiveness, in her view, doesn't always mean forgetting. Instead, it's about understanding the other person, which could imply that they're in the wrong. She might believe for the rest of her life that whatever they did was incorrect.

In the meantime, Twain married Thiébaud's ex-husband, Frédéric Thiébaud, in 2011. They are still together.
