Metallica performs a tune tailor-made for Munich audience.
At the first of Metallica's two concerts in Munich, the 75,000 spectators witnessed a unique experience - a one-time-only song from the band that is likely never to be heard again in this form.
At their first concert out of the two performances held at the Olympiastadion in Munich on May 24th, Metallica delighted their Bavarian fans with a special treat - a song composed especially for the evening. Between their popular hits such as "Nothing Else Matters" and "Of Wolf and Man", bassist Robert Trujillo and guitarist Kirk Hammett showcased the instrumental piece "Hofbrauhaus Funk Jam". The performance was further amplified with light and pyrotechnic effects, and some rain started to fall. However, the "Hofbrauhaus Funk Jam" was not played at the second Munich concert on May 26th, as the band follows the "No Repeat Weekend" philosophy, which means a different program for each show.
The Munich concerts marked the commencement of the second part of Metallica's 72-city tour for their new album "72 Seasons". Besides the two concerts in Germany and the unique song, metalheads have other reasons to be enthusiastic in Munich. There is a Metallica Pop-Up-Shop with merchandise items located in the city center, as well as a Metallica film festival that showcases documentaries about the band.
