Melanie Müller stands trial.
It's been a little over 2 years since Melanie Müller made some unfavourable news: she's accused of making a Nazi salute at an event. The legal system, though slow, does move. Soon, Müller will face trial.
Beginning in mid-June, this ex-jungle queen Melanie Müller will need to address some serious allegations in court - namely, giving the Nazi salute in public. The trial for the use of symbols associated with unconstitutional and terrorist organizations is set to start on the 18th of June, as announced by the court.
There's also a charge of drug possession. The prosecution claims that Müller had 0.69 grams of a cocaine mixture and an ecstasy tablet in her Leipzig apartment back in August. A verdict may be reached during another hearing scheduled for July 2nd.
The Leipzig public prosecutor's office pressed charges against Müller in May, accusing her of making the Nazi salute several times in public. The authorities trace this action back to an event in Leipzig on the 18th of September, 2022.
A Search of Müller's Residence in Leipzig
Müller denies these accusations and any affiliation with "right-wing extremists or nationalist ideologies". She explained the gesture as a way to incite the audience. In conjunction with the investigation, her home in Leipzig was searched by the police last year. For now, Müller is considered innocent until proven guilty.
Born in Oschatz, Saxony, Müller had an intriguing past before making headlines. She starred in various porn films before gaining fame through her appearance on the RTL show "The Bachelor" in 2013. In 2014, she won the eighth season of "Ich bin ein Star - Holt mich hier raus!" and then appeared in numerous other TV shows. Now, she's trying her hand at pop singing, including at "Ballermann" on Mallorca.

During the trial, Melanie Müller's defense might argue that her Nazi salute was merely an act for entertainment purposes, as she claimed it was meant to overwhelm the audience. However, right-wing extremism processes will also be under scrutiny, given the symbol's association with unconstitutional and terrorist organizations.
Despite her successful career in entertainment, including reality TV shows and pop singing, Melanie Müller's Leipzig residence was searched as part of the investigation into her alleged right-wing extremist ties, which she has vehemently denied.
