Members of the British royal family - King Charles participates in a birthday procession.
King Charles III of Britain, aged 75, will be joining in his birthday parade known as "Trooping the Colour" on the 15th of June, according to sources from the London palace. As per the reports, due to his battle with cancer, the monarch will not ride his soldiers' parade on horseback like in the past. Instead, he will be seated in a carriage with Queen Camilla, who is 76 years old.
There have also been rumours about Princess Kate, aged 42, not joining the event. Although she had been in charge as "Colonel in Chief of the Irish Guards", a general review called "The Colonel's Review" is now being led by Lieutenant General James Bucknall. The media in Britain have reported this as an unusual arrangement since Kate was ideally supposed to carry out this task.
In early February, the palace made a statement confirming that King Charles had contracted a non-specific form of cancer. Consequently, he started undergoing treatment as an outpatient, largely retreating from his public appearances. By late April, the palace shared updates that the therapy was going effectively and the king was planning to resume some of his public duties.
However, the same cannot be said for Princess Kate. She revealed her diagnosis with cancer towards the end of March and started undergoing preventive chemotherapy. The type of cancer she is currently battling remains undisclosed.
Princess Kate has taken a complete break from her royal duties, and it remains unclear when she might make an entry back into the public domain. Information about the progress of her therapy and her current health condition is also not available. Meanwhile, her husband, Prince William, who is heir to the throne, took a leave from his public appearances for some time to provide support to his family. Nonetheless, the royal family has moved many of their planned public events to a later date, after the parliamentary election scheduled for the 4th of July.
