Actress Judi Dench in the Spotlight - Is her time on stage done?

Last year, acclaimed actress Judi Dench (89) stated that she had no intentions of retiring due to her eye problems. However, recent reports indicate a shift in her stance. The Mirror reported that at the Chelsea Flower Show, Dench was questioned about potentially returning to acting. She responded, "No, no, I can't even see anything." Her team, reluctant to provide further comment, stated, "Judi has nothing further to add to what she said to the journalist."

Judi Dench's most recent film "Spirited," which came out in 2022, featured a brief appearance by her. It's a comedy take on Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" starring Will Ferrell (56). Her latest significant role was in "Belfast" in 2021, earning her her eighth Oscar nomination for her supporting role in Kenneth Branagh's (63) autobiographical film. As per IMDb, Dench doesn't have any forthcoming projects lined up.

In 2012, Judi Dench shared that she was dealing with age-related macular degeneration. This is a degenerative eye condition affecting central vision, impacting individuals as they age.

During a conversation with The Mirror in 2023, she admitted, "I can't see anything on a film set." Additionally, she disclosed her inability to read scripts, stating, "But you have to come to terms with it. Keep going" seemed to be her mantra. However, her stance appears to have shifted.
