Following his mysterious debut album "Stadtaffe," Peter Fox initially had no desire to continue pursuing a solo career. That was before his second album "Love Songs" with the mega-hit "Zukunft Pink" featuring the band Seeed ("Dickes B," "Ding," "Geld").

Now, at 52, Fox is releasing new tracks without his band Seeed. Just a few weeks after "Toast," the Berlin vocalist unveiled the single "Blackbirds," this time accompanied by his touring partner Benji Asare, AKA Bensh. It's slated for release on May 31st.

"Blackbirds" is a laid-back tribute to family bands, showcasing their trials and triumphs. As with "Toast" and its line about family wellbeing, Fox continues to gush in this track with, "Hang out with the brood, love in masses." He also covers some family discord, like his parents' opinions: "Dad says, don't mess around with beer, no. Mom says, without me you wouldn't be here, no." And about his children's reactions to his singing: "In my swimsuit, I perform hits for my family. All my kids find it embarrassing and cringe, but they don't have a choice." And there's more: "The gang chirps until 4 a.m.," of course, "everyone is high on love."

"Blackbirds" incorporates several nods to entertainment icon Harald Juhnke (1929-2005). One line echoes Juhnke's popular catchphrase when he said, "Light one up and no appointments." Fox also alludes to one of his top songs, "Alles neu," from 2008, and the lyric, "If I ever smoke again, I'll cut myself with an axe." Now, "Blackbirds" has, "Without an axe in my leg, smoke in my lungs."

Fox had a massive success with his debut solo album "Stadtaffe" in 2008. Last year, the artist gained recognition with the single "Zukunft Pink" featuring singer Inéz, followed by his popular album "Love Songs."
