In a recent interview, Kevin Spacey sheds tears.
After the MeToo movement gained momentum, actor Kevin Spacey was faced with accusations of sexual assault from several men. This led to him losing several high-profile projects. Regardless, he was acquitted in court. In a recent interview with the Telegraph, Spacey expressed his disdain for being "prejudged" in such a manner.
In the interview, he was asked if he believed the allegations were exaggerated due to the MeToo movement. "I think it was certainly judged quick," he responds.
Netflix and other companies distanced themselves from Spacey at the time, severing ties with him before even presenting him with any questions. "I just wished people would have asked questions and investigated," Spacey adds.
The 64-year-old actor also revealed that there was a considerable amount of kindness shown towards him by people other than the media and social platforms such as Twitter.
Several men had come forward with claims of inappropriate behavior from Spacey, who was known for films like "American Beauty" and series like "House of Cards". The court in London ruled in his favor in a trial last year, but the prosecutor had depicted him as a powerful man who sexually harassed others. Spacey maintained throughout that the encounters were, in fact, consensual.
He accepts that, at times, he may have exhibited bad behavior, particularly on set, where "jokes" were more common back then. Spacey explained that he'd learned through conversations with a therapist how that could have made some feel "belittled" or "humiliated". "I had no intention of making people feel that way, and it was terrible to hear that some did," he shares.
Accepting wrongdoing, the actor disclosed that he'd been working every day to become a better person. Colleagues such as Sharon Stone and Liam Neeson also spoke in his favor, showing support for his potential return to the big screen.
