Hoenig's situation is picking up pace, with a surgery set for Monday.
For several days, it's been uncertain when Heinz Hoenig's condition would be stable enough for surgery. Now, his values seem to have improved. He's scheduled for an operation on Monday. However, it's just the beginning. Hoenig sends a message to "the people out there" through his wife.
72-year-old German actor Heinz Hoenig, best known for his role in "Das Boot," will have surgery on his esophagus on Monday. His wife, Annika Kärsten-Hoenig, confirmed this to RTL. If he recovers from this operation, it'll be his aorta's turn. In an earlier report, Hoenig's agent Birgit Fischer-Höper stated he was fully conscious, but had to wait for his values to stabilize for the first surgery. Now, it seems things are going according to plan.
Ralph Siegel's agency, "Siegelring," launched a fundraising campaign to cover the expenses of the operations and Hoenig's recovery as he reportedly doesn't have healthcare insurance. Despite raising the target to €150,000 due to Hoenig's health issues, they've already surpassed the goal. The website "gofundme" had noted over €155,000 by midday on Saturday.
Inflammation, Stent Damage, and Complications
A little over a week ago, Kärsten-Hoenig shared that an inflammation had spread throughout Hoenig's aorta. A stent placed in the actor in 2012 had gotten damaged. So, they fitted him with a new stent and put him in an induced coma.
At least two more procedures are likely. One is due to his inflamed aorta, and the other is for a hole found in his esophagus. After Hoenig woke from the coma and learned about his health status, he decided to go through with the operations, as reported by RTL.
Facing such a challenging situation, Hoenig remains optimistic. "Tell the people out there, I'll be back, no matter what, I'll be back," he said to RTL through his wife.

Despite the upcoming surgery, Hoenig's health issues aren't limited to his esophagus. He also needs to address an inflamed aorta and a hole in his esophagus. Despite the difficulties, Hoenig remains hopeful, encouraging his supporters by saying, "Tell the people out there, I'll be back, no matter what, I'll be back." This statement shows that even during his battle with illness, he finds solace in the entertainment industry and his fans.
