Heidi Klum has models plunge 100 meters into the void during her show.

During a photoshoot for "Harper's Bazaar" magazine, GNTM models aspire towards the title. Nevertheless, before advancing to the next stage, they must face a unique obstacle: walking on a catwalk hanging 100 meters above a canyon.

Germany's Next Top Model 2024 - Heidi Klum has models plunge 100 meters into the void during her show.

During episode 16 of Germany's Next Topmodel 2024, there are still five female contestants and six male contestants left.

Harper's Bazaar Cover Shoot

At a beautiful villa in Malibu, the cover shooting for the fashion magazine "Harper's Bazaar" takes place. For the last few years, the winner of GNTM has been featured on the magazine's cover annually. However, there's a new twist this year - a male winner will also be crowned, and both the male and female winners will be on the cover. The photo shoot takes place outdoors, with the contestants and models posing on a white platform, focusing only on themselves. "The simplest thing is often the hardest. When you're a model and there's nothing around you and it's just about your face," says Kerstin Schneider, editor-in-chief of "Harper's Bazaar."

During the shoot, Heidi Klum makes an unexpected decision. She wants twins Luka and Julian to compete as a team from now on, evaluating them together in the future. "I've tried to separate you two in the past few weeks and see you individually, but I have to say, you're a real eye-catcher as a pair and something really special. You have a magic together," Klum explains. The 24-year-olds are ecstatic with Klum's decision and are photographed together for the cover.

Sensation of the Week

The location for the decision causes panic among some of the contestants and models. A 20-meter long catwalk has been set up in a mountainous area. The catwalk runs over the ground and hangs over a gorge, and there's a drop of 100 meters below it. The models are secured with belts and steel cables to make the task less nerve-wracking but still, some have shaky legs. Jermaine comments, "When I saw this crane, I knew my life could end today." Lea admits, "My fear of heights makes me imagine a thousand different ways I could die. Even when I'm sitting on a chair or a stool and not secured, I'm afraid of dying." Windy conditions and high heels make the task even more challenging.

Kerstin Schneider, the editor-in-chief of "Harper's Bazaar," has been in the role since 2015 and has been a judge on Germany's Next Topmodel for several years. She knows what she wants for her magazine cover and who she doesn't. "I care about how the models pose. They have to enjoy it and talent is helpful," the 56-year-old says. Along with Heidi Klum, she evaluates the contestants during the shoot. Schneider is enamored with Frieder ("His face is like a painting") and Lea ("She's super photogenic"), while Klum is excited about Jermaine ("He's a multi-talent") and Armin ("He's a young god"). After the performance, Klum and Schneider take a step back and watch the models strut their stuff on the floating runway. The male models can score extra points here, making the decision more difficult.

Who gets sent home?

Kadidja was already in danger of being eliminated in the previous week, and this time, Heidi Klum sends her home. On the catwalk, she looked nervous and unsure, her poses couldn't convince, so Klum explains her decision. Schneider critiques Kadidja for presenting herself too one-sidedly during the photoshoot. "The best photos were the ones where you laughed. That's a problem, because not only photos with laughter are wanted. A model must have an enormously wide range, be versatile, and show many faces. I'm not sure if you have more facets. That's not necessarily what 'Harper's Bazaar' represents. I don't see you as a high-fashion model," Schneider judges as she eliminates Kadidja. The remaining participants are now Jermaine, Armin, Luka, Julian, Linus, and Frieder, as well as Xenia, Grace, Fabienne, and Lea.
