Five years after the passing of a renowned fashion icon, Hamburg has unveiled a Karl-Lagerfeld-Promenade. A 155-meter-long walkway for pedestrians and hikers along a canal in the heart of the city was given this name on a Thursday. Carsten Brosda, the Culture Senator of SPD, pronounced at the event, "Lagerfeld's unique style reigned supreme in the global fashion scene." "His artistic influence is also evident in his hometown - now symbolized by this promenade."
This promenade's location was no accident. As the Culture Senator of Hamburg, Carsten Brosda (49) informed NDR, "The Chanel boutique, just next to the promenade, and his 'creative refueling station,' the bookstore Felix Jud, are both just a few hundred meters away."
