Amazon orders "Young Sherlock" show. - Guy Ritchie assumes the director's position.

In the 2010s, British filmmaker Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes movies starring Robert Downey Jr. as the famous detective made a splash. Ritchie modernized the duo of Holmes and his partner Dr. Watson, while also ramping up the action. Today, Prime Video has announced via a press release that Ritchie will also helm a series about teenage Sherlock Holmes for their streaming platform.

Hero Fiennes Tiffin Stars in "Young Sherlock" Series

Entitled "Young Sherlock," this series is described as "a daring, action-packed origin tale of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's beloved detective." The "bold adaptation" follows an 19-year-old Sherlock Holmes who finds himself embroiled in a murder mystery at his Oxford university. At this stage, the character is "gritty, unfiltered, and unshaped," unleashing "unbridled" into his very first case. Sherlock Holmes is involved in a "life-altering conspiracy" that sets him on a path to change his life forever.

Hero Fiennes Tiffin (26) will take on the role of the young Sherlock Holmes in Amazon's upcoming show. Tiffin gained recognition through teen movies like "After Passion," which is part of the "After" series that premiered in 2019. Matthew Parkhill ("Deep State") will serve as showrunner and lead writer.

Director Ritchie shared his excitement for the project, saying, "In 'Young Sherlock,' we'll discover a captivating new take on the detective we're all familiar with—one we could have never imagined before. We'll delve deep into this enchanting character, uncover what drives him, and watch him evolve into the brilliant man we all adore."
