King Frederik X of Denmark participated in the Royal Run for the first time as the country's ruler. Alongside him were princesses, princes, and thousands of ordinary citizens. In Copenhagen alone, over 42,000 individuals signed up for this entertaining race. Due to a fire at the historic stock exchange, the course had to be slightly altered.
This year, the well-known Royal Run took place in five cities across Denmark. The royal family announced on Instagram that "together we've set a record for this year's race with more than 95,000 registrations." They shared a photo of the king holding a participant medal.
Frederik, who is enthusiastic about physical activities, organized the Royal Run in 2018. He was still the Crown Prince at the time and celebrated his 50th birthday. He has completed several marathons, an Ironman, and other strenuous challenges.
Crown Prince Christian (18), his sister Princess Isabella (17), and the twins Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent (13) also participated in the event. They were seen giving out medals with big smiles. Queen Margrethe II (84), who gave up her throne in January, observed the race from Fredensborg Castle, north of Copenhagen, according to the palace.
