"The Fourth Bridget Jones Movie" - Familiar and new personas on the filming grounds
"In 'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy', Bridget Jones is back, and so are many of her beloved co-stars. Scheduled to be released on Valentine's Day 2025, Renée Zellweger (55) will reprise her role as the famous title character, as will Hugh Grant (63) as the charming Daniel Cleaver. Emma Thompson (65) will also return to her role.
Familiar and New Faces Combined
Excited fans can also expect to see more well-known cast members: Gemma Jones (81) and Jim Broadbent (75) will be reprising their roles as Bridget's parents. Her friends, played by Sarah Solemani, Sally Phillips, Shirley Henderson, and James Callis, will also be returning. There's also a welcome reunion with the roles of Neil Pearson, Joanna Scanlan, and Celia Imrie.
Among the new additions to the cast are Chiwetel Ejiofor (46) and Leo Woodall (27). Other newcomers joining the lineup include Isla Fisher (48), Nico Parker, Josette Simon, and Leila Farzad.
A Long-time Star is Missing
However, one absence might disappoint "Bridget Jones" fans - Colin Firth (63), who played Bridget's husband Mark Darcy, will not be returning. While there isn't a plot description for 'Mad About the Boy' yet, the source material, Helen Fielding's (63) third book in the series, may shed some light on his absence. In the book, Bridget Jones is a widow.
'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy' is the fourth movie in the series. This one is directed by Michael Morris (50). The most recent 'Bridget Jones' film, 'Bridget Jones' Baby', was released in 2016, and it earned over $760 million worldwide."
