Dutch contestant Joost Klein does not advance to the Eurovision Song Contest final.
Before the main event of Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in Malmö, Joost Klein's journey ends. The Dutch representative in the contest won't be able to participate. The reason for this is an occurrence with a production team member. Consequently, there will be only 25 countries competing.
The Dutch participant for ESC, Joost Klein, was disqualified from the competition according to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The administration revealed the news regarding a criminal investigation linked to an event on Thursday night post Klein's semi-final performance.
The Swedish police are currently managing a complaint filed by a female production team member following the situation. Since it's an ongoing legal process, it wouldn't be appropriate for the 26-year-old to carry on with competing, EBU decided.
EBU issued an announcement stating, "We want to clarify that, unlike some media reports and assumptions on social media sites, no other artists or delegation members were involved in this occurrence." They ensured that it's a zero-tolerance policy towards any kind of inappropriate behavior at their events and take pride in providing a secure workplace for all competition staff. Therefore, Klein's conduct towards a team member will be considered as a violation of the competition rules.
The 68th grand finale of Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden, will proceed with 25 participating songs.
