Queen Camilla will no longer buy clothes featuring fur. It is not clear whether the trim on the hat she wore here on Remembrance Day last year is real fur.

Camilla, the Queen, will not be acquiring any new fur pieces to include in her collection.

Queen Camilla has written a letter to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), stating that she won't purchase any new fur clothing. However, it's unknown what her stance is on fur items she already owns.

This decision comes after her late mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, made a similar choice in 2019 by rejecting the idea of buying new fur products.

The palace's communication with PETA was a result of a letter sent to the Queen in April from Elisa Allen, PETA's UK programs and operations vice president. In this letter, Allen described the cruel tactics of the fur industry and its environmental harm.

PETA's founder, Ingrid Newkirk, shared her gratitude for the news in a statement: "PETA is cheering to Queen Camilla with the best wine for acting like a true queen by aligning with the 95% of Britons who also refuse to don fur, according to polls."

Angela Kelly, Queen Elizabeth II's senior dresser, revealed in her book "The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe" that since 2019, if the Queen attends a cold-weather event, fake fur will be used instead of real fur to keep her warm.

PETA suggests that those with fur items donate them to its "Fur Amnesty Program," which distributes them to people in need, including the homeless, refugees, and those living in war-stricken areas during the cold seasons. This program aims to provide warmth to those in need, while also preventing further harm to animals used in the fur industry.
