Rapper Nicki Minaj - Amsterdam concert by a rapper is called off.
Nicki Minaj (41) is currently performing throughout Europe during her "Pink Friday 2 World Tour." Unfortunately, Minaj won't be stopping in Amsterdam anymore due to a recent incident.
Mojo, the concert promoter, announced on their website, "The Nicki Minaj show on Sunday, June 2, at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, will no longer happen." Refunds for the tickets will be granted at the box office. It's unknown whether Nicki Minaj plans to return for another concert in Amsterdam.
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol Arrest
This recent incident may be connected to her arrest at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. This arrest caused her concert in Manchester to be postponed. Minaj was detained for a few hours due to being suspected of smuggling drugs. However, the police spokesperson assured "BBC News" that Minaj would not be arrested again if she came back. The case has officially closed.
The rapper and her team were unhappy with the way she was treated, implying that her race may have played a factor. The police spokesperson responded by saying, "We just do our job, and it's a regulation to search luggage and arrest someone if we find drugs." Minaj was apprehended on May 25, around 5:30 p.m., and was released four hours later.
The policy is clear: everyone gets treated equally, and it's strictly forbidden to bring drugs into a foreign country. Minaj was fined 350 euros. The prosecutor's office mentioned that they had found around 30 to 100 grams of cannabis. Minaj's team pointed fingers at one of her security personnel for possessing the drugs.
