John Lennon, a renowned musician and singer, is the focus of this report. - A guitar was auctioned off for $2.9 million in value.

Guitars previously played by John Lennon (1940-1980) and George Harrison (1943-2001) during the recording of the albums "Help!" and "Rubber Soul" were sold at an auction in New York. As per "Julien's Auctions", the auction house, they fetched around $2.9 million (equivalent to approximately €2.7 million). This is claimed to be the highest amount ever paid for a Beatles guitar in a sale, as reported by media outlets.

In the year 2015, another Lennon guitar was sold by "Julien's Auctions", which garnered $2.41 million. This Framus guitar was estimated to be worth around $600,000 to $800,000 before the auction, but fetched significantly more.

The recently sold music instrument is believed to have been stored on a roof for the last 50 years. The acoustic guitar of the Beatles, as stated by the auction house, was made by the German company Framus in the early '60s, was mostly used by John Lennon and is said to be seen in the movie "Help!" during "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away". George Harrison made use of the guitar for "Norwegian Wood".

"Finding this exceptional instrument is similar to discovering a lost Rembrandt or Picasso," Darren Julien, co-founder and director of "Julien's Auctions", shared with People magazine. "It still looks great and feels like a dream to play."

Julien further revealed that the owners, who had forgotten they owned the instrument, had initially received it as a gift from Gordon Waller (1945-2009), a part of the pop duo Peter & Gordon. Waller had given it to one of his managers, who took it home and later abandoned it on the roof, not paying any attention to it for a while.
