Zverev eighth in the world rankings ahead of the ATP season finale
Olympic tennis champion Alexander Zverev has moved up one place to eighth in the world rankings ahead of the ATP season finale. This is according to the new ranking published on Monday.
In his comeback season after his serious foot injury, Zverev had temporarily fallen out of the top 20 and has been back in the top ten since mid-September. Despite his elimination in the round of 16 at the Masters 1000 tournament in Paris last week, the Hamburg native has qualified for the ATP Finals, which will be held from November 12 to 19 in Turin and will feature the eight best tennis pros of this season.
The world rankings are still headed by the Serbian top star Novak Djokovic, who celebrated his 40th Masters 1000 title in Paris on Sunday. The Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz is in second place.
Alexander Zverev's strong performance in recent tournaments has earned him a spot in this year's ATP Finals, a tournament exclusively for the top eight ranked tennis players, including himself. Despite his early exit from the Paris Masters 1000, Zverev continues to excel in the ATP circuit, maintaining his position as one of the top ranked tennis players in the world, currently ranked eighth, in the same league as the ATP.
