Zverev advances to the Grand Slam's last eight rounds.

Alexander Zverev, a prominent tennis player, engaged in a lengthy and physically taxing contest against Holger Rune, a Danish opponent. The match, which spanned for several hours, pushed both athletes to their limits. In the end, Zverev emerged victorious.

German tennis player Alexander Zverev is still in the running for a title at the French Open in Paris, following another five-set showdown. The 27-year-old claimed a hard-earned victory over Holger Rune, from Denmark, with a scoreline of 4:6, 6:1, 5:7, 7:6 (7:2), 6:2. This marks his fourth consecutive quarterfinal appearance at a major clay court championship.

The match on Court Philippe Chatrier concluded at 1:40 a.m. on Tuesday, after it lasted a total of 4 hours and 11 minutes. Earlier in the tournament, Zverev narrowly avoided a five-set loss against Dutch player Tallon Griekspoor.

In the quarterfinals, Zverev will face Australian athlete Alex De Minaur, who earlier in the day had stunned world number five, the Russian Daniil Medvedev, with a 4:6, 6:2, 6:1, 6:3 victory.

Zverev starts off sluggishly

Boris Becker, a tennis expert from Eurosport who had trained Rune until February, predicted before the game that it would be a tricky match for Zverev. Rune's unpredictable style, with numerous changes in pace, had previously worked well against Zverev in their only clay meeting this year in Munich.

Zverev began the match passively, but following his loss of the first set, he picked up his tempo and his ordinarily weaker second serve became more stable. Both athletes faced intense challenges maintaining their serve games. Becker remarked, "They're practically giving everything they've got on the court." Zverev ultimately raised his game in the decisive set, while Rune often appeared rushed and hurried.
