The alleged victim, Caden Tellier, serving as quarterback for Morgan Academy, reportedly sustained fatal injuries during a tackle in the third quarter of their encounter against Southern Academy on Friday. Despite swift medical attention at the University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital, his life couldn't be saved.

Speculations persist that a burst blood vessel in Tellier's brain occurred during a seemingly routine play where he was carrying the ball, eventually hit the ground. The Alabama Independent Schools Association's director, Michael McClendon, shared this insight with CBS News on Sunday. Morgan Academy's director Bryan Oliver confirmed the news with CBS, expressing that Tellier suffered a brain injury. Caden was widely admired and loved by everyone in the Morgan Academy community, as Oliver expressed on the school's Facebook page. The appeal has already amassed close to $75,000 towards its intended $100,000 target as of Monday afternoon CEST.
