- Young Individual Experiences Fatal Brain Injury During Football Match
The opening match of the new term turned into a devastating incident: A teenage football star from Selma, Alabama, met his unfortunate end following severe wounds sustained during the competition.
The alleged victim, Caden Tellier, serving as quarterback for Morgan Academy, reportedly sustained fatal injuries during a tackle in the third quarter of their encounter against Southern Academy on Friday. Despite swift medical attention at the University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital, his life couldn't be saved.
Fatal Brain Injury for the Footballer
Speculations persist that a burst blood vessel in Tellier's brain occurred during a seemingly routine play where he was carrying the ball, eventually hit the ground. The Alabama Independent Schools Association's director, Michael McClendon, shared this insight with CBS News on Sunday. The school is yet to uncover further details regarding the accident and could take some time to fully understand the injury.
Morgan Academy's director Bryan Oliver confirmed the news with CBS, expressing that Tellier suffered a brain injury. Caden was widely admired and loved by everyone in the Morgan Academy community, as Oliver expressed on the school's Facebook page. The school honors his memory and cherishes the positive impact he made during his time there.
Possibility of Organ Donation
Caden Tellier's loving family has also reached out to the public via Facebook, reminding the community of his kindness and generosity. "May the good Lord keep you in His bosom; we thank you for your prayers," they shared, also requesting continued support during these difficult days ahead.
In keeping with his altruistic nature, Tellier was an organ donor, as per the school's director.
In the wake of this tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to ease the financial burden for the Tellier family, having faced exorbitant expenses associated with medical treatment, air transportation, funeral arrangement, and lost wages. The appeal has already amassed close to $75,000 towards its intended $100,000 target as of Monday afternoon CEST.
Other families in similar situations might find comfort in knowing about the generosity shown toward the Tellier family. Despite his tragic passing, Caden's decision to be an organ donor offers hope and potential life-saving opportunities for others.
