King Charles III and Queen Camilla - You were evacuated during your Jersey visit

At Jersey's visit by King Charles III (75) and Queen Camilla (76) on July 15, there was an incident: The British royal couple had to be evacuated from a venue briefly during an event. Fortunately, it seemed to be only a false alarm.

According to "The Mirror," Charles and Camilla were taken from Weighbridge Place to the nearby Pomme d'Or Hotel by security personnel during their third engagement of the day. Royal reporter Matt Wilkinson shared video recordings on X (formerly Twitter) of the moment the Queen - still holding an ice cream - was informed by security that they had to leave the event site immediately. After a brief clarification of the situation, the Royals were able to resume their program on the Channel Islands as planned.

"There was a little problem"

After a brief pause of about 20 minutes, the King and Queen were taken back outside to meet local schoolchildren before being welcomed as guests to a tea party. A royal source told "The Mirror": "There was a little problem, an investigation revealed it was a false alarm, all precautions were taken, and the program was resumed shortly thereafter."

Eamon Fenlon, the manager of Jersey Dairy, had just served the Queen an ice cream from a delivery truck when she was taken away. He recalled: "When I turned around, she had been whisked away. Some of the other people told me it was a drone, but I don't know if that's official or not." Matt Taylor, founder of Jersey Sea Salt, was speaking with the King when he was approached by his security detail and told to leave immediately.

On the official Instagram account of the Royal Family, the Palace published several pictures from the visit and looked back on the "wet" weather. The security incident was not mentioned.

Charles and Camilla attended a special sitting of the State Assembly, the local parliament, in St. Helier's Royal Square in the afternoon. In his speech, the King said: "Jersey has one of the oldest connections to the Crown, and we are delighted to be back here to celebrate the special and close relationship that binds us." The Island welcomed the Royals not with imperial weather, but with heavy rain. As a result, they had to walk under umbrellas over the red carpet to the building.
