Bares for Rares - You stay here

We go directly to the airport, and then it's off to the Caribbean with the money," Marek Elsen and Paul Scholtz announce before entering the "Bares für Rares" studio. At first, they didn't mean that: Their sales item is indeed a real eye-catcher - but it hardly brought the necessary small change for a trip. The two friends from Bad Honnef, however, have a table soccer table in their luggage.

In the expert room, Elsen plays a round first with Detlev Kümmel. Before that, moderator Horst Lichter appears and forces an immediate game interruption with a "What's going on here?". Kümmel's hint that the game can go up to 10 is ignored: "You're staying here," Lichter orders the expert, who reluctantly takes a seat behind the counter. "Incredible," Lichter adds.

"Bares für Rares": Expert raves about the state of the table

The table soccer table used to be in Elsen's office, he explains, but the architect shrank, and there's no longer room for it there. As Detlev Kümmel explains, it's a very special object: A sign indicates that it's an official entertainment device for the 1972 Olympic Games. Made by the company Leonhart. The expert finds the condition ideal: "I love this table just as it is. It has a past, it has lived, you can see: Tournaments were held here." Starting at 500 Euro, Marek Elsen is open to selling. Kümmel considers this realistic: He values it at 500 to 600 Euro.

In the dealer room, the table soccer table finds immediate appeal: Julian Schmitz-Avila and Anaisio Guedes face off at the goals. Leo Leo feels reminded of the legendary World Cup semifinal of 2014, in which Germany defeated Brazil 7:1. The Brazilian Guedes opens the auction with a starting bid of 100 Euro. Several dealers are interested, and the auction develops into a German-Dutch duel between Jos van Katwijk and Leo Leo. The latter receives the bid for 780 Euro.

The sellers are satisfied: "That was a great negotiation," Elsen says afterwards. He has significantly exceeded the estimated price. However, the sum does not quite cover the planned trip.

After the auction, Elsen and Scholtz discuss their financial situation, realizing they still need more funds for their trip. They decide to attempt selling the table soccer table again, this time in the Caribbean.

During their time in the Caribbean, they meet a renowned collector named Detlev Kümmel. Kümmel expresses interest in their table, and they arrange an auction at a local venue.

Upon seeing the table, Horst Lichter, a well-known expert from the German show "Bares für Rares," is captured by its history and condition. He champions the table during the auction, contributing significantly to its sale price.
