Sequel to Karoline Herfurth film - "Wunderschöner" is in the can

Early 2022, Karoline Herfurth's (40) directorial work "Wunderschön" captivated the German cinema audience. Nearly 1.7 million viewers attended the screening rooms to experience the story of strong women battling common beauty ideals. Today, July 10, the production of the sequel could be completed, as announced by the production company Hellinger/Doll. The sequel with the fitting title "Wunderschöner" is scheduled to hit German cinemas on February 13, 2025.

About "Wunderschöner"

According to the press release, the new film "accompanies many beloved characters from the first part on their journey to self-discovery." Five women, "who no longer want to base their lives and self-worth on being desirable," are at the heart of the story.

Actress and director Herfurth, along with Nora Tschirner (43), Emilia Schüle (31), Friedrich Mücke ("SMS für Dich," 43), and Dilara Aylin Ziem ("Hübsches Gesicht," 22), are returning from "Wunderschön." New additions to the cast include "Polizeiruf 110" star Anneke Kim Sarnau (52), the well-known Godehard Giese from "Babylon Berlin" (51), and newcomer Emilia Packard (18).

Filmmaker and actress Herfurth gained ten kilograms and opted for minimal makeup for the first part to portray an authentic image of a young, stressed mother. "I can't make a film about real beauty and then make all my characters artificially flawless," the successful director revealed to "Bild am Sonntag" in December 2021.

Women from the successful movie "Wunderschön" are set to continue their journey in the upcoming sequel, titled "Wunderschöner." Karoline Herfurth, who gained acclaim for her directorial work and intentional weight gain in the first film, returns alongside other notable actors like Nora Tschirner and Emilia Schüle. The new addition, Anneke Kim Sarnau, is also set to join the cast, contributing to the film's beautiful ensemble. The closing time for filming has been reached, and the public can look forward to the movie's release on February 13, 2025.
