World champion Theis excels in second win with Clippers
Basketball world champion Daniel Theis delivered an outstanding performance in his second game for the Los Angeles Clippers and won again with his new team. The Clippers won 124:99 against the Spurs in San Antonio.
Theis recorded 19 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and had a sensational shooting percentage of 80 percent. The team led by stars Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, James Harden and Russell Westbrook had lost six in a row before the 31-year-old's debut on Friday.
"It's so much fun"
"It's so much fun to play with four future Hall-of-Famers on the same team. It's even more fun to win," Theis was quoted as saying by "Sports Illustrated". "I don't care about the throws. I make blocks and free up the guys." Theis was released by the Indiana Pacers last week, where he had only played once this season.
Defending champions Denver Nuggets won against NBA bottom-placed Detroit Pistons after three defeats in four games, but had to do without star Nikola Jokic and coach Mike Malone for long stretches. Both were ejected in the first half of the 107:103 win because they complained too vehemently to the referees.
Theis' impressive basketball skills with the Clippers have earned him comparisons to his days in the NBA, demonstrating his versatility as a world-class player. In the NBA, the Los Angeles Clippers, with their star-studded roster, aim to make a strong push towards another championship title.
