HRH Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, - Will she soon adopt the title "Princess Henry"?
Over and over again, British media wonder if King Charles III (75) might remove his son, Prince Harry (39), and his wife, Duchess Meghan (42), from their official royal titles. Some believe that at least Duchess Meghan could lose her Duchess title, but the monarch is probably not considering it. This is because if she does, Meghan would become a princess, which might not be the desired outcome.
Royal expert and author Ingrid Seward (76) mentioned in "The Mirror" during the Prime Video documentary series "The Royal Beat" that Charles is unlikely to exercise this right. According to Seward, leaving things as they are is better because it would be unfriendly and unnecessary for the king to strip Duchess Meghan of her title. She also pointed out that Meghan would ironically become a Princess if she loses her Duchess title.
The Name Change: From Duchess to Princess Henry
Prince Harry was born as Prince Henry Charles Albert David, but he prefers to go by Harry. In the royal tradition, a wife without her own title adopts her husband's title. Therefore, if Meghan loses the title of Duchess, she would become Princess Henry. Similarly, if the Princess of Wales (Princess Kate) lost her title, she would have to call herself Princess William.
This potential name change is an unlikely scenario. Seward mentioned that the queen has given them the titles, and they should keep them. There have been rumors that King Charles III (75) and his heir, Prince William (41), have been discussing for a long time whether to take away Harry and Meghan's titles. However, even Seward believes that this action could make the situation worse.
