Following his departure from the German national football team, speculations have arisen about Ilkay Gündogan's future with FC Barcelona. According to reports by Sky, Barcelona's leadership has advised the midfielder to seek a new club during this transfer window.
As per a report in "AS", the new manager, Hansi Flick, who has worked with Gündogan in the German national team, does not consider him as a regular starter. Flick reportedly communicated this to the club's sporting director, Deco, suggesting that Gündogan does not fit into his tactical approach.
Gündogan missed Barcelona's opening game against Valencia last Saturday due to a cut wound sustained during the friendly against AS Monaco, which ended in a 0-3 defeat. Flick later stated that he believed Gündogan would remain with the club and expressed his high esteem for the 33-year-old.

His contract with the Catalan giants runs until the summer of 2026, after joining the club on a free transfer from Manchester City in 2023.
There are possibilities of Gündogan returning to Manchester City, according to Sky. The report claims that City is contemplating the possibility of bringing him back to the club.
