Bundesliga - Werder coach Werner misses consistency on the road

Werder Bremen simply can't win away from home anymore. The 2:2 (1:1) draw at Borussia Mönchengladbach gave Werder their second away point of the season. However, coach Ole Werner's team have now gone ten games without a three-point haul away from home this season.

"What's missing is that we're just as consistent away from home as we are at home," complained Werner, who was nevertheless very satisfied with his team's performance - unlike midfielder Mitchell Weiser. "We can be happy to have got a point at all," the 29-year-old grumbled.

Both of Werder's goals, scored by Rafael Borré (7th minute) and Marvin Duksch (76th), came after serious positioning errors in the Gladbach defense. After a brace from Gladbach's shooting star Rocco Reitz (45th/49th), Borussia were much closer to victory at one stage. "We allowed ourselves a phase that was immediately punished," said Weiser. "We gave that away too easily."

At least Marvin Ducksch set a Werder record, according to statistics service provider Opta. The international scored ten away goals this year - a feat previously only achieved by Rudi Völler (1983 and 1985).

Werder Bremen's coach, Ole Werner, lamented the lack of consistency his team shows away from home, as they drew 2:2 against Borussia Mönchengladbach, securing their second away point of the Bundesliga season. Mitchell Weiser, a midfielder for Werder Bremen, was less satisfied with the result, criticizing his team's defensive errors that led to goals from Gladbach's Rocco Reitz. Despite these mistakes, forward Marvin Ducksch set a new record for Werder Bremen, scoring ten away goals in a single season, a feat first achieved by Rudi Völler in 1983 and 1985. The match took place in the Bundesliga, the top-tier German soccer league, in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, with Borussia Mönchengladbach and Werder Bremen hailing from this region.

While Mitchell Weiser didn't have a fantastic game, another German soccer player, Mitchell Weiser from Borussia Mönchengladbach's rivals, SV Werder Bremen, has been making a name for himself. Weiser, a 29-year-old midfielder, has gained recognition for his performances, but even he acknowledges that the team hasn't been performing consistently enough to win on the road. This inconsistency is a concern for coaches and players alike, as it can hinder a team's chances of success in the Bundesliga.

Furthermore, this issue is not unique to Werder Bremen, as consistency remains a challenge for many Bundesliga teams, including Borussia Mönchengladbach. With talented players like Rocco Reitz scoring crucial goals, Gladbach has shown promise, but they too have struggled to maintain consistency, particularly on the road. As the Bundesliga season progresses, teams will need to assess their strengths and weaknesses to improve their performances and secure valuable away points.
