Ski jumping - Wellinger takes next podium place

Olympic champion Andreas Wellinger has once again made it onto the podium in the Ski Jumping World Cup and is currently the strongest challenger to perennial winner Stefan Kraft.

The 28-year-old Bavarian jumped 135 and 143 meters on the large hill in Lillehammer to take second place. For the Austrian Kraft, who has now won four out of four competitions, it was once again not enough. Kraft now has 34 individual World Cup victories and has thus overtaken the German ski jumping icon Jens Weißflog (33). Jan Hörl from Austria came third.

Just under four weeks before the Four Hills Tournament, the ski jumpers are currently not only in good form, but are also performing strongly as a team. Behind Wellinger, Karl Geiger (4th) and Pius Paschke (7th) also finished in the top ten. Stephan Leyhe (11th) and Philipp Raimund (12th) followed. A total of five podium places were achieved in four individual competitions in Ruka, Finland, and in Lillehammer. Stops in Klingenthal and Engelberg in Switzerland await before the tour. There is a break on the Christmas weekend.
