- Wasn't there an invitation for Harry and Meghan?

When the British royals traditionally visit the former summer residence of Queen Elizabeth II. (1926-2022), Prince Harry (39), Duchess Meghan (42), and their children Archie (5) and Lilibet (3) are unlikely to be present. Insiders are confident that the younger brother of Prince William (42) and son of King Charles III. (75) has not been invited.

Long Royal Holiday in Scotland

In July, British media reported that Charles was planning a long summer holiday with Queen Camilla (77) in Scotland, continuing a beloved tradition of the late Queen Elizabeth II. The monarch usually spent several weeks on the Balmoral estate each year and spent her last summer there.

The "Daily Mail" recently wrote that Charles is likely to spend the rest of the summer with his wife on the Scottish estate of Birkhall or Balmoral after an engagement on the following Saturday. Traditionally, the family and the Prime Minister are also invited.

According to the British tabloid "Daily Express," Charles is reportedly already in Scotland - but not at Balmoral Castle. An insider claims that the King wants to spend approximately ten days alone at the Castle of Mey. Afterwards, he will join the rest of the family at Balmoral. He is said to use this time to relax and prepare for conversations with family members who will also be present.

This is unlikely to include Prince Harry or Duchess Meghan. Several anonymous sources have reportedly told the US magazine "People" that the couple has not been invited for years, and there was no invitation in 2024 either. The relationship between Harry and his father and brother is said to be extremely tense. After Charles' cancer diagnosis, Harry visited his father in England in February, but since then, the King is said to have neither taken his son's calls nor responded to his letters, according to sources close to the Prince.

William's Deep Connection with Scotland

William and his wife, Princess Kate (42), are likely to visit with their children, even if Kate, like King Charles III, is being treated for cancer. In 2021, William reminisced about his childhood during a visit to Edinburgh, recalling the joy of outdoor activities like swimming in lakes and family barbecues with his grandparents.

"Scotland is the source of some of my happiest memories, but also my saddest," William said in a speech at the time. "I was in Balmoral when I was told that my mother had died." In shock, he found solace in a church service in a parish church. "And in the dark days that followed, I found comfort in the Scottish countryside," he explained. Therefore, the connection he feels with Scotland will always be deep.

During their summer breaks, the Cambridge family often spends time in Scotland, cherishing the same outdoor activities and family gatherings that Prince William enjoyed during his childhood. Despite his personal struggles, Prince Harry unfortunately does not seem to be part of these summer holidays, as tensions between him and his family continue to linger.
