On the thirteenth day, we found ourselves immersed in the jungle encampment. - Was there an excessive confidence in Thorsten regarding the hereditary esteem of the crown?
The latest episode of "I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!" (stream it now on RTL+, airs on linear TV tomorrow on RTL) served up a major shock for the surviving jungle contestants. This surprise was connected to the departure of a true jungle legend who couldn't hold back tears at the episode's end. She had been certain of making it to the finale throughout the episode.
Thorsten Legat was confident in the finale
Let's rewind to the start of this new jungle episode: Thorsten Legat (55) returns to camp with good news - eight out of nine stars. But there's more: "I can't say the other thing." It's a tactic to stir up confusion and discontent among the jungle competitors. "I created a bit of uncertainty because I wanted to. I wanted to give them all a wake-up call," she explains. It becomes apparent that this jungle legend has finally picked up the pace and has her sights set on her biggest competitor, Eric Stehfest (35), despite "loving him deeply in my heart." She justifies herself as a strategist: "That's who I am."
The camp residents agree on day 13 that "someone has to leave today." But before the duel begins, Kader Loth (51) wishes for peaceful coexistence in the camp: "If someone has to go today, let's spend these last hours peacefully."
Kader and Danni Büchner (46) contribute to harmony around the campfire with their successful treasure hunt. They complete the task together on a pedal-powered vehicle, solving questions to fill a bucket of water on their heads, which they then pour into a tube to transport the key for the treasure chest from bottom to top.
Meanwhile, Elena Miras (32), Sarah Knappik (37), Mola Adebisi (51), and Gigi Birofio (25) discuss modern and outdated gender roles, emancipation, and single mothers. The conversation becomes heated, with Mola appearing to get herself into a tight spot. Emotional outbursts follow from Elena, who talks about her daughter with former "I'm a Celebrity..." contestant Mike Heiter (32), who reportedly doesn't want much to do with his child, while her current partner serves as a father figure for her daughter.
Kader Loth and Danni Büchner show their female strength
With united female strength, Kader and Danni successfully complete the task and bring the heavy chest back to camp, to the delight of everyone else. After everyone correctly answers the question "Who was the first jungle king?" with Costa Cordalis (1944 - 2019), everyone cheers for the chips packages that appear, ensuring a delicious jungle meal.
Thorsten Legat is even more confident: "I didn't come here to make friends, I came to win the money." She quickly gets selected for the next jungle challenge. But this time, she's not alone. In the challenge titled "The Slimming Pool," she teams up with Gigi against Erik and Mola. With eight stars the previous day, she goes into the race as the undisputed favorite. "The combination of Gigi and Thorsten is explosive," Elena says.
During the challenge, the teams must collect stars as quickly as possible
During the challenge, the two teams must dive into two identical pools, securing nine stars within ten minutes while under the watchful eyes of Sonja Zietlow (56) and Jan Köppen (41). "Of course, you'll have some animal companions," Dr. Bob (74) warns just before they dive in. Additionally, each tank will gradually fill with water.
The challenge is tough: first, Team Blue, consisting of Mola and Erik, and Team Red, consisting of Thorsten and Gigi, are visited by five net pythons each. Then, frogs, catfish, and crabs join in. The water levels rise, and it's clear that Team Blue is faring better than Team Red. Mola and Erik stay focused, quickly free the stars, and secure all nine within the ten minutes.
Who has to leave the camp forever?
"What does this mean now?," Sonja Zietlow wonders meaningfully as the four jungle legends stand before her, soaking wet. The answer: One of the two losing teams will leave the jungle immediately. Erik and Mola, the winners, must decide which of the legends will leave. Thorsten must leave, with the explanation "Unfortunately, she is the strongest opponent." Gigi, Mola, and Erik return to the camp with nine stars.
And so, an era with Katherina - and a few tears - comes to an end. "There's so much heartache in this," a disappointed Legat finds her last words in the jungle and shows herself to be a good loser: "I've learned one thing: to lose with dignity. Anger and hate are bad advisors. I wish the winner who gets the crown all the best from the bottom of my heart."
"She was too confident today," Erik and Mola conclude on the way back to the camp, raising question marks about how this unexpected twist will affect the group dynamics in the final days of the jungle camp.
- Thorsten Legat, responding to a question about her previous comment, said, "- What? You think I'm giving up my chance to win just because I showed a bit of strategy?"
- The other contestants were left wondering, "- What happens now that Thorsten has been eliminated? Will the dynamics in the camp change drastically?"
