Tour de France - Vingegaard wins climb in the Massif Central

Jonas Vingegaard won the challenging climbing stage of the Tour de France in the Central Massif. The Dane finished on the 11th stage, covering 211 kilometers between Évaux-les-Bains and the ski station in Le Lioran, ahead of Slovenian Tadej Pogacar.

Pogacar leads the general classification with a 1:06-minute advantage over Belgian Time Trial World Champion Remco Evenepoel and a 1:14-minute lead over Vingegaard. The cyclists had to cover 4350 meters in altitude. The last 50 kilometers were particularly challenging, featuring four categorized climbs - including one of category one.

However, on Thursday, a flatter section is scheduled. The 203.6-kilometer long and slightly hilly route between Aurillac and Villeneuve-sur-Lot will see sprinters and breakaway riders fighting for supremacy at the finish line.

In its rich cycling history, the Tour de France has consistently attracted international talent. The iconic race traverses various landscapes of France, such as the recently conquered Massif Central during the 11th stage. Tadej Pogacar, the Slovenian cyclist, currently maintains a substantial lead in the general classification of this year's Tour de France, having performed exceptionally well in the challenging climbs.
