VfB Stuttgart's standouts may be linked to Borussia Dortmund, with Jobe Bellingham possibly among them.
Despite the disappointing end to their season, Borussia Dortmund is looking towards the future with motivation from their defeat against Real Madrid. There are still several unanswered questions surrounding the club, including potential new signings and the future of certain players and coaches.
One of the biggest question marks is the fate of Mats Hummels, whose contract is set to expire. Fans are also discussing the future of coach Edin Terzic, whose employment contract still lasts until 2025. Renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that an offer for a contract extension has been presented to Terzic by the club.
Meanwhile, Dortmund is already gearing up for their next attempt at capturing the European football throne. While the team takes their holidays, work is being done to assemble the next BVB squad. Some of the players being considered as potential additions include Edin Terzic (still unconfirmed), Serhou Guirassy (desired player), Jobe Bellingham (18-year-old brother of Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham), Chris Fuehrich, and Waldemar Anton, all from VfB Stuttgart. There is also uncertainty surrounding the futures of Jadon Sancho (Manchester United) and Ian Maatsen (FC Chelsea) whose loan agreements are expiring.
Following their entry into the Champions League final, Dortmund has a significant amount of money at their disposal after earning millions. While they won't be making a transfer on the scale of Harry Kane (who Bayern Munich paid over 100 million euros for), they are planning to invest a substantial amount in new signings. According to commercial director Hans-Joachim Watzke, "We can't invest 100 million net, but we will invest significantly more in transfers than we will earn through transfers. And that's new for Borussia Dortmund."
However, a transfer deal of Harry Kane's magnitude is "completely excluded," says Watzke. "For that, we would have to generate a turnover of 750, 800 million." The Dortmunders have never before had a turnover over 500 million euros, but this could change with increased revenue from their success in the top league and the upcoming Club World Cup.
Not only financially were the Dortmunders successful in London, but they also left with a boost in morale. "We saw a team that believed it could bring 100,000 people to London," said Terzic. "This belief must be maintained, it must not disappear if there are setbacks in the new season. It's all about belief."
