Formula 1 - Verstappen also ahead in qualifying in Austria
Formula-1 World Champion Max Verstappen starts from the first place in the Grand Prix of Austria. The Dutch driver secured the Pole Position for the race on Sunday (3:00 PM/Sky) with the fastest lap in qualifying in 1:04.314 minutes, which is about four tenths of a second ahead of McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
Just four hours after his win in the Sprint Race, the 26-year-old Verstappen achieved this. For Verstappen, it was his 40th Pole position in his career. Nico Hülkenberg drove his Haas racing car to ninth place.
Before the 11th of a total of 24 races in the season, Verstappen, who won in Spielberg last year, leads the overall standings with a comfortable 70-point advantage over Norris.
