Actress Ulrike Kriener ("Commissar Lucas") spoke openly about setbacks in her life during an interview with ZDF. "There were burglaries, of course. I lost a child after pregnancy, and later when my son was born, I worked less," the 69-year-old stated in a conversation with ZDF regarding the comedy "All Not Quite Right," which is currently available in the ZDF Mediathek.

"There's no security in my profession, and there's no guarantee of success," Kriener continued. "From the beginning, that is, from drama school, there have always been more actresses than actors. And there are always fewer roles for Women than for men."

Playing Commissar Lucas was a great luck

This imbalance has accompanied women in the industry throughout their entire professional lives, according to Kriener. "And when you get older, it eventually catches up with you. I was lucky to have started playing Commissar Lucas past 40." This helped her get through the difficult years.

"Of course, one wishes to play beautiful roles throughout one's life, but on the other hand, the generation that follows must also tell their stories. That's their right. So is life."

"I am always happy to get older"

Getting older doesn't worry the 69-year-old. "I am always happy to get older. Of course, I have desires: I want to be useful for others, I want to be appreciated, I want to pass on my knowledge, stay connected. I want to be respected based on my abilities and possibilities and not have to pretend to be younger and cooler. Being independent, making my own decisions – that's important to me."

"All Not Quite Right" will be broadcast linearly on TV for the first time on September 26 (8:15 PM). The film is already available in the ZDF Mediathek and will be accessible for approximately another year. According to ZDF, the film is "not only a turbulent and ultimately moving mother-son story but also a satirical description of German employment conditions." Other cast members include Tim Oliver Schultz and Oliver Wnuk.
