Tuchel demands five Bayern wins at the end of the season
After the lackluster draw against FC Copenhagen, coach Thomas Tuchel has set FC Bayern Munich the goal of an all-win end to the year ahead of their Bundesliga home match against 1. FC Union Berlin.
"We have to up the tempo and step up the pace. We want to win all of our games," said Tuchel about the four remaining matches in the league and the conclusion of the Champions League group stage at Manchester United.
International Leroy Sané will return to the Munich starting line-up against Berlin, who are without a win in 16 competitive matches, on Saturday (3.30pm/Sky). Defender Minjae Kim could also play again after suffering a bruised hip in the 0-0 draw against Copenhagen, Tuchel announced.
Attacker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and defender Noussair Mazraoui were also given the green light by the medical department. National player Jamal Musiala is back after tearing a muscle fiber. However, the Munich coach said that the 20-year-old's comeback "will be limited to a brief appearance at most".
Tuchel is focusing more on his own team in preparation for the match because he cannot yet assess Union accurately after just one match under new coach Nenad Bjelica. "Union have changed their basic formation under him. I don't know if that's permanent. Normally they always played with a back five. Now it was a 4-1-4-1," said Tuchel on what he learned from Berlin's 1-1 draw in the Champions League at Sporting Braga.
Tuchel's goal for FC Bayern Munich includes securing five wins in their remaining Bundesliga matches and the Champions League group stage, including the upcoming game against 1st FC Union Berlin, who have struggled with no wins in their last 16 competitive matches. Despite the return of Leroy Sané and other injured players, Tuchel is cautious about Jamal Musiala's comeback, expecting a limited appearance due to his injury.
