Greek football star George Baldock has passed away at the age of 31. His passing was confirmed by his family, who are currently requesting privacy during this difficult time. According to various media outlets, Baldock was discovered unconscious in his swimming pool. The exact cause of his death is yet to be determined, with the coroner set to conduct an investigation.

Baldock's spouse, who resides in England, contacted his club and authorities after being unable to reach him for several hours. The family released a statement saying, "As a family, we are devastated by this tragic loss. We kindly ask the media to respect our privacy at this moment."

Upon hearing the news, numerous teammates rushed to Baldock's apartment in the Athenian suburb of Glyfada. In a statement, Panathinaikos, the Greek top club, expressed their shock and sorrow, saying, "We are shocked and heartbroken by the loss of our beloved George. The Panathinaikos family mourns."

The Greek Super League, where Baldock had been playing for Panathinaikos Athens since the summer, released a statement of condolence as well. The statement read, "The entire Super League football family expresses its deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of our national player George Baldock of Panathinaikos."

Before transferring to Greece, Baldock played for Sheffield United in England for seven years. Last season, the club was relegated from the Premier League. Due to an injury, Baldock was not included in the squad for the Nations League game against England, scheduled for Thursday at 20:45 (live on ntv.de). In response to his passing, both the official website and social media accounts of Sheffield United, as well as those of Panathinaikos, went dark in his honor.

Sheffield United also released a statement saying, "Sheffield United Football Club is shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the death of our former player, George Baldock." Baldock was highly regarded among the club's fans, employees, and colleagues. The English national team also expressed their condolences on social media.

During his time at Sheffield United, Baldock carried a deep passion for Soccer, often showcasing his skills and dedication on the field. Despite missing the Nations League game against England due to an injury, Baldock's love for Soccer remained undiminished.
