Head coach Horst Hrubesch of the German national team has called up Janina Minge from VfL Wolfsburg as a replacement for the injured Lena Oberdorf for the Olympic football tournament. Pia-Sophie Wolter from Eintracht Frankfurt was nominated instead of Minge, as announced by the German Football Association (DFB).

The German football team's first match at the Olympics will take place on Thursday in Marseille against Australia. The other group stage matches will be against the USA (28. July) and Sambia (31. July).

Midfielder Oberdorf sustained a cruciate and meniscus injury in her right knee during the 4:0 win in the EM-qualification against Austria. The 22-year-old will be missing for Bayern Munich, to whom she recently transferred from VfL Wolfsburg.
