"Sorry and get well soon" - Toni Kroos apologizes to Pedri after foul

Toni Kroos apologized to Pedri after his foul in the EURO-Quarterfinal. "Apologies and get well soon" wrote the 34-year-old a day after the dramatic game on Instagram to the playmaker of the Spanish team: "It was obviously not my intention to injure you. A quick recovery and all the best. You're a great player."

Toni Kroos did not want to injure Pedri

Kroos had fouled the FC Barcelona professional in the first phase of the football national team's game in Stuttgart on a Friday evening. A few minutes later, after a total of only eight minutes, Pedri had to be substituted. According to the association, he suffered a second-degree lateral ligament sprain in his left knee. The EURO is therefore prematurely over for him.

The Spanish federation spoke after the 2:1 after extra time on Friday evening about the national player having "sustained an internal lateral ligament sprain of second degree in the left knee". No absence period was mentioned, Pedri would, however, remain with the team until the end of the tournament.

However, several media reported subsequently that the midfielder of FC Barcelona would be out for four to six weeks.

For Kroos, the German elimination from the tournament through the 1:2 after extra time marked the end of his unique career. The long-standing midfield strategist of Real Madrid played 114 international games, became world champion in 2014, and won the Champions League six times.

Despite expressing his apologies and wishing for Pedri's speedy recovery on Instagram, Toni Kroos regretted the 'foul' he committed during Spain's EURO-Quarterfinal match. The incident led to Pedri's 'end of career' in the tournament due to a knee injury. In a twist of events, despite initial reports, some media suggested that Pedri might be out for four to six weeks.
