Tires for year-round usage: discover the ideal options for varying weather conditions.
Swapping out tire types every few months for all-season tires is advantageous due to their practicality. However, are they reliable? ADAC evaluated 16 different models. The scoreboard is lopsided: only one model garnered the "good" grade, while two models were marked as "deficient."
All-season tires are expected to deliver similar performance on hot asphalt as summer tires and maintain the same level of safety during braking in cold temperatures and on snowy roads, as per ADAC. As a result, ADAC applies the same tough testing standards to all-season tires as it does for summer and winter tires.
In the recent ADAC test, the Goodyear "Vector 4Seasons Gen-3" all-season tire took first place. Six models received a "satisfactory" grade, seven models earned a "sufficient" rating, and two models were rated "deficient."
Top pick isn't just safe
The Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 claimed the top spot. With an average price of 120 Euro per tire, it impressed the analysts not only with its safety but also with its impressive environmental performance. The model earned an overall score of 2.4.
This outstanding test result showcases the potential of cutting-edge tire technology, as per ADAC. All-season tires could potentially serve as a viable alternative to summer and winter tires in certain scenarios.
Option for low-mileage drivers and budget-friendly models
For those with minimal mileage, the Pirelli "Cinturato All Season FS2" tires are a choice worth considering at a cost of 114 Euro per tire. In the assessment, this model received a total score of 2.6. It came remarkably close to a "good" rating, according to ADAC, with only limitations related to durability. The anticipated tire life of the Pirelli tire, as estimated by experts, is around 33,000 kilometers, while the winner from Goodyear offers a life of 60,700 kilometers.
The other models in third to seventh place in the evaluation are also worth a look, according to ADAC. Among them are two models that scored a total of 2.7. A Hankook tire for 98 Euro (Kinergy 4S) and a Michelin tire for 131 Euro (CrossClimate 2) are available in this list. The other three models with the rating "satisfactory" were from Kumho for 89 Euro (Solus 4S HA32+; rating 2.8), from Vredestein for 105 Euro (Quatrac; rating 2.8), and from Falken for 96 Euro (EuroAll Season AS210; rating 3.1).

The Goodyear "Vector 4Seasons Gen-3" all-season tire, which performed exceptionally well in ADAC's tests, is not only recognized for its safety but also for its eco-friendly characteristics. In contrast, some automobile manufacturers advocate for the use of separate winter and summer tires, basing their argument on the results of rigorous tests conducted by organizations like ADAC.
